BJD Rajya Sabha MP resigns: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar has been expelled from the party on charges of being involved in anti-party activities. Vice President and Upper House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has accepted the resignation of BJD MP Sujit Kumar.
This is the second time that a BJD MP has resigned from the Rajya Sabha. Earlier, Mamta Mohanta had resigned from the post of MP and primary membership of BJD and after joining BJP, Mamta was again elected to the Rajya Sabha.
He left the party which sent him to Rajya Sabha
The official order of BJD said that Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar representing BJD is expelled from the party with immediate effect for anti-party activities. He has left the party which sent him to Rajya Sabha. He has abandoned the hopes and aspirations of the people of Kalahandi.

In his resignation, Sujit Kumar wrote that “Today i.e. on 6th September 2024, I am tendering my resignation from the membership of Rajya Sabha, I have taken this decision after careful consideration. On this occasion, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for giving me the opportunity to raise the issue of public importance and the issue of my state Odisha in the House. Without your constant guidance, I would not have been able to do this work.
Sujit Kumar is a Rajya Sabha member since 2020
Sujit Kumar was a member of Rajya Sabha from BJD since the year 2020. Along with this, he is currently the Chairman of the Petitions Committee of Rajya Sabha. He has also served as Advisor to the Chief Secretary of the Special Development Council of the Government of Odisha and as Special Secretary of the Odisha State Planning Board.
