UP News: A special communicable disease control campaign is going to be run in Lucknow from 1st to 31st October for special communicable disease control. During this period, Dastak Abhiyan will also be run from 11th to 31st October. In a meeting chaired by Lucknow DM, the DM directed that a well-planned plan should be made to make the communicable disease campaign successful. Also, in order to not let water collect in any way in the fields connected to the population, tell the farmers to sow such crops in the fields which use minimum water.
The DM instructed that water should not collect anywhere in empty plots in urban areas. The DM instructed children in government, government aided and private schools to come to school wearing full sleeve clothes. Along with this, children should be made to do voluntary labour once a week through which they should be told about the importance of cleanliness. He appealed to the public to pay special attention to cleanliness in this season as there is a possibility of infection of dengue, malaria and chikungunya diseases. Do not let mosquito-borne conditions develop in and around homes.
Discussion on making a complete advisory
In this meeting, there was a discussion on making a complete advisory on the communicable diseases caused due to rain and their spread possibilities and what precautions should be taken for it. Along with this, there was a discussion on making the common people aware by publicizing it on a large scale through hoardings, pamphlets and banners. Along with this, there was a discussion on ensuring that awareness programs are organized on a large scale in all government, government aided and private schools.
In the meeting, the DM has given responsibility to different departments to control communicable diseases. All these departments will work to control communicable diseases by coordinating with each other. These departments are Medical and Health Department, Urban Development Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Child Development Services and Nutrition Department, Rural Development Department, Medical Education Department, Agriculture Department, Irrigation Department, Basic Education Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Secondary Education Department, Disabled Empowerment Department, Information and Water Supply Department, Commercial Tax and Entertainment Department, Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, Food Safety and Drug Administration Department and Horticulture Department.
What to do and what not to do to prevent diseases
What to do –
- Do not allow water to collect in coolers, buckets, barrels, flower vases, bird baths, fridges, tyres and coconut shells in or around the house and do not keep them open.
- Do not allow broken utensils, unused bottles, tins, old tyres and junk to collect in the house and do not throw them near the house. Ensure proper disposal of these things so that mosquitoes do not breed in them.
- Do not allow water to collect near the house. Fill the places where water collects with soil. If possible, put a few drops of kerosene oil/burnt mobil oil.
- Use mosquito net while sleeping.
- Apply mosquito repellent team/ neem and mustard oil on the body in open areas.
- Burn neem leaves.
- Keep the body covered. Wear full sleeve clothes.
- In case of fever, get yourself examined and treated at the nearest government hospital, community health center, primary health center.
- Do not use medicine without consulting a doctor.
- Install mosquito nets on doors, windows and ventilators.
- Dispose of all unsuitable items that can hold water.
- Change flower vases, plant pots, bird feeders or other collected water every week.
- Use mosquito repellent cream, aerosol, coil etc.
- Use mosquito repellent, use mosquito net even during the day if you have fever during dengue infection period. 15.
- In case of fever, take paracetamol, plenty of liquids and rest.
What not to do –
- Do not allow unnecessary water to stagnate in and around the house.
- Do not keep or throw broken items like tyres, utensils, bottles in the open.
- There is no specific medicine for dengue disease, do not take medicine yourself, consult a doctor if you have fever.
- Do not use aspirin.
