International Buddhist Conference 2024: The International Buddhist Media Conference was organized by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) on Wednesday (September 11). The aim of this international Buddhist conference is to promote ethical journalism, foster thoughtful communication and establish a network of Buddhist media professionals across Asia.
Former Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia was the chief guest at this event. VIF chairman Gurumurthy and Vivekananda International Foundation director Dr Arvind Gupta also attended the event.
Chief guest Baichung Bhutia said in the event, “Buddhism is a way of life. Buddha’s teachings have a message of peace and sacrifice. Buddhism plays an important role in ensuring peace and brotherhood and the media will play an important role in spreading the message of Buddhism across the world”
What did VIF director Arvind Gupta say?
Meanwhile, Dr Arvind Gupta, Director of Vivekananda International Foundation, said, “Both thought and action are important to restore civilizational values. Hindu and Buddhist scholars have discussed these issues for years. It is important that the focus on Buddhism’s ethical conduct and enlightenment be adopted by the media for balanced and ethical reporting.”
VIF Chairman Gurumurthy said, “The world has suffered a lot in the last few years. On the other hand, India has given birth to the greatest philosophical traditions. This is of vital importance for modern communication.” While talking to the media, International Buddhist Confederation Director Abhijit Haldar said that the program has received a good response from the media.
Abhijit Haldar said, “The International Buddhist Confederation will hold its next conference on a grand scale. It is time that the teachings of the Buddha in the field of conflict prevention and sustainable development are adopted by the world. The fact that India is the land of the Buddha is an attraction for all of us.”
