Delhi Police Arrested Two People Who Used to Rob Women on Behest of Online Dating App

Delhi Crime Latest News: The Anti Auto Theft Squad Police of Dwarka district of Delhi has succeeded in exposing a gang that used to target women in particular. They used to befriend them through online dating apps and then take them into confidence and go to their homes to meet them. Where they, along with their partner, used to hold them captive and loot them and run away. In this case, the police have arrested two accused including the mastermind, who have been identified as Vijay Kamal Kumar and Rahul. They are residents of Mohan Garden area of ​​Delhi.

DCP Ankit Singh said that the jewellery looted from the victims, mobile phones, Creta car, fake number plate and a stolen scooty have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Vijay has a total of four criminal cases registered against him including robbery at a jewellery shop at gunpoint, while Rahul has been found to be involved in a criminal case. Their arrest has led to the disclosure of a total of four cases from Delhi’s Daabri, Dwarka North, South Rohini and North Rohini police stations.

After Befriending the Victim, He Robbed Her of Her Jewellery, Cash and Mobile – DELHI

The DCP said that in a complaint given to the police on May 31, a woman (35) complainant said that she came in contact with a boy through the “Dating Joumo App”, with whom she used to talk through messages. On the request of the boy, she called him to her house to meet her at 10:30 pm on May 30. He came there with one of his friends.

The DCP said that after talking for a while, they tied his hands and legs and also beat him. After which they looted the gold jewellery, mobile phones and Rs 5000 cash kept in the house and then fled from there. On the basis of the victim’s complaint, a case was registered in Daabri police station and investigation was started.

They Were Carrying Out Robbery One After the Other

Considering the seriousness of the case, a team of SI Dinesh Kumar, ASI Topesh, Head Constable Jagat, Manish, Manoj, Jairam and Constable Sheeshpal was formed under the supervision of ACP Operation Ramavatar and under the leadership of Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, in-charge of AATS. They met the complainant and obtained the CCTV footage from the spot, from which the team came to know that the accused had reached there in a Creta car, which had a fake number plate.

On technical investigation of the mobile number used by the accused to talk to the victim, it was found that the mobile number belonged to his other female victim, who is a resident of Rohini Sector 6.

A Woman Was Also Robbed in Rohini

The victim from Rohini told that after befriending a young man on a dating app, he came to her house with his friend to meet her on March 23, and then beat her up and held her hostage and fled after robbing gold jewellery, cash, mobile etc. During this time, the team also found out about the accused’s involvement in a robbery at gunpoint in a jewellery shop in Rohini Sector 3, in which the accused looted 6 gold chains.

He Used to Call the Next Victim From the Stolen Phone

Further analysis of call detail records revealed that the mobile phone used by the accused to talk to the woman complainant from Rohini whom he had robbed was stolen from Sagarpur area. Finally, the hard work of the police team engaged in continuous investigation paid off and on 18 June, the police received an information, which brought the police closer to identifying the accused and with the help of human sources, they were able to nab one of the accused, Rahul, from outside Safdarjung Hospital.

They Used to Rob to Earn Easy Money

During interrogation, on his information, the police also arrested the mastermind Vijay Kamal Kumar from Vipin Garden area. On his information, a Creta car with fake number plate and a stolen scooty used in the crime were also recovered. During interrogation, the accused confessed their crime and told that in order to make quick and easy money, they had befriended women and planned the robbery.
