Devender Yadav News: Amid speculations of an alliance between AAP and Congress in the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, the Congress party in Delhi has attacked the Aam Aadmi Party’s Kejriwal government. The Delhi Congress also slammed AAP and Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi for not making a Dalit councillor the mayor in the third term of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The Delhi Congress president said several schemes launched for Dalits during the Congress government in the national capital were either discontinued or their funds were reduced.
Dalit mayor has not been made yet
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav said that just as the BJP has been trying to weaken the Constitution by attacking it for a long time, the Aam Aadmi Party is also working to snatch the rights of Dalits under the Constitution. He said that Aam Aadmi Party Mayor Shaili Oberoi has been forcibly occupying the post of Mayor for five months by snatching the right of a Dalit councilor to become Mayor in the third term. Whereas as per the provision in the MCD Act (Section-35), a Dalit was to become Mayor after the term of the Mayor ended on March 31, 2024.
Rajendra Pal joins Congress
Devendra Yadav said that inspired by his leader Rahul Gandhi’s fight against the dictatorial BJP government and to save the Constitution, leaders of other parties are continuously joining the Congress party. In this sequence, yesterday Rajendra Pal Gautam, a minister in the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi government, joined the Congress party and some time ago another former minister of the Delhi government has left the Aam Aadmi Party.
Dalits lost their trust
He said that Dalits have lost faith in Aam Aadmi Party because Dalit society has been exploited in the last 11 years. Whereas Aam Aadmi Party has only used Dalits as vote bank to fulfill its own interests. Not a single promise made to them has been fulfilled till date.
