DUSU Election Manifesto: There is a lot of activity in the campus regarding the student union elections to be held in Delhi University (DU). The three major organizations contesting the DU student union elections released their election manifestos on Saturday. The student organizations made all kinds of election promises to woo the students. In the election manifesto, claims have been made to improve all kinds of facilities including affordable education, safe campus along with better infrastructure in the university.
Let us tell you that voting for DU student union elections will be held on 27 September and the election results will be declared on 28 September.
What is in the manifesto of NSUI, ABVP and AISA-SFI?
NSUI
The NSUI released its election manifesto yesterday announcing the names of its panel candidates Raunak Khatri (President), Yash Nandal (Vice President), Namrata Jeff Meena (Secretary) and Lokesh Chaudhary (Joint Secretary). The NSUI has included major issues in its manifesto such as overall development of students, their rights, campus infrastructure, improvement in facilities, ensuring equal opportunities for all students and guaranteeing transparent examinations.
The national president of the organization, Varun Chaudhary, said that our manifesto reflects a comprehensive approach dedicated to all issues related to student welfare. It includes provisions focusing on the overall development of students, their officers and campus infrastructure. He claimed to win all four seats in the elections.
The NSUI manifesto promises to improve facilities on campus, ensure equal opportunities for all students, guarantee transparent examinations and strengthen the voice of students in decision-making processes. Students will not be allowed to face any kind of problem.
ABVP
ABVP also released its manifesto by announcing the names of DUSU Presidential candidate Rishabh Chaudhary, Vice Presidential candidate Bhanu Pratap Singh, Secretary candidate Mitravrinda Karanwal and Joint Secretary candidate Aman Kapasiya in a press conference. ABVP has also given prominence to the development of infrastructure in the campus as per the current requirements, construction of new hostels, issues of disabled and girl students. The organization said that it has been prepared after receiving suggestions from more than five thousand students.
The national general secretary of the organization, Yagyavalkya Shukla, said that the main issues are running special buses for students, approval for construction of new hostels, permission to build student activity centers, organizing internship programs, strengthening women’s safety, etc. In its manifesto, the organization has made several promises including one course-one fee for PG students, formation of internal complaint committee and functional gender sensitization cell in every college, availability of women subject experts and psychological counselors.
AISA and SFI
AISA and SFI, who contested the DU student union elections together, yesterday announced their panel candidates Savi Gupta (President), Ayush Mandal (Vice President), Sneha Agarwal (Secretary) and Anamika (Joint Secretary). The joint manifesto of both the student organizations includes improving the university’s infrastructure, affordable education, a safe campus for women and a vision of social justice. The organization has included things like continuous fee hike, the need for democratic functioning of ICC in every college, construction of new hostels and Rent Control Act in its manifesto.
