This year Indira Ekadashi of Pitru Paksha is on 28 September 2024. Due to the power of this fast, the ancestors who have gone to hell are liberated.

Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will start on 27 September 2024 at 1.20 pm and will end on 28 September 2024 at 02.49 pm.

The fast of Indira Ekadashi will be observed on 29 September 2024 between 06.13 am to 08.36 am.

According to the scriptures, Ekadashi fast liberates one from the bondage of birth and death. By observing Ekadashi fast in Pitru Paksha, not only do the fasting people attain salvation, but their ancestors also do not have to suffer the tortures of Yamaloka.

By observing the fast of Indira Ekadashi of Pitru Paksha, the ancestors of King Indrasen were freed from hell and their souls were satisfied.

According to the method described in Padma Purana, start the fast from sunrise, worship Lord Hari. In the afternoon, feed food to Brahmins, cows, crows and dogs. Stay awake the night and break the fast the next day.
