Jammu Kashmir Assembly Election 2024: The first phase of voting for the assembly elections 2024 in Jammu and Kashmir concluded on Wednesday. Voting took place on 24 seats under the first phase. Now the second phase of voting will be held on 25 September. In view of this, now all the political parties have started preparing for it. The election campaign has been intensified on the seats of the second phase.
In this episode, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Srinagar on Thursday (19 September 2024) to campaign for the elections. Addressing a rally here, PM Modi sought votes for the BJP candidates. He said that for the first time voting has taken place in Kashmir without the shadow of terrorism. He thanked the public for the bumper voting.
A jibe at Rahul Gandhi
Prime Minister Modi countered Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ and said, “These people have opened shops of hatred. Schools kept burning, youth remained deprived of education and stones were given to them. I had said earlier also that three families destroyed Kashmir, and now they are upset. These families think that they have the right to loot Jammu and Kashmir, but now Jammu and Kashmir will not remain in the grip of these families.”
‘Supporters of terrorism rejected’
PM Modi further said that the bumper voting in the first phase of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir has rejected the parties supporting stone pelting and terrorism. The people here have full faith in Prime Minister Modi’s guarantee of a safe and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. The PM expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people who came to the rally.
61.3 percent voting took place in the first phase
Let us tell you that in the first phase of elections, about 61.3 percent voting took place, which is the highest in the last seven assembly elections. The Election Commission’s focus is on ensuring that the voting percentage remains the same in the remaining two phases. At the same time, political parties also want that maximum number of voters cast their votes in their favour.
