Voting for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has begun. A total of 23.27 lakh voters will vote for their favorite candidate out of 219 candidates today, but do you know that there are some candidates among them whose names are included in the list of the richest candidates.
In the first phase of Jammu Kashmir assembly elections, voting is being held in 24 assembly constituencies of 7 districts. A total of 219 candidates are in the fray. These include 9 women and 92 independent candidates. Among these, there are 36 candidates who have criminal cases registered against them.
Let’s talk about those candidates who are in the list of crorepatis. Though 110 out of 219 candidates are well-known wealthy people of Jammu and Kashmir, but if we filter them out, there are three candidates who are in the list of crorepatis.
The first name in the list of crorepatis in the first phase is that of Mehbooba Mufti-led People’s Democratic Party candidate Abdul Gaffar Sofi. 61-year-old Sofi is a politician by profession and does social work. Sofi, who is contesting from Anantnag seat, has assets worth Rs 66 crore.
At number two is Imtiyaz Ahmed Shan of the PDP party, who is contesting from the Banihal assembly seat. He has total assets worth Rs 34 crore.
Let us tell you that in the first phase of Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections, a total of 23.27 lakh voters are going to decide the fate of the candidates. Out of these, 11.76 lakh are male voters and 11.51 lakh are female voters. The total number of first time voters is 5.66 lakh. 60 people from the third gender are voting.
