JNU Student Reaction On Independence Day: The country has completed 77 years of independence. Tomorrow (15th August) the 78th Independence Day will be celebrated with great pomp in the country and the world. Tomorrow is the day for all Indians to celebrate as well as to introspect as to what we have done in the last 77 years and what is left to be done now? So that we can achieve the goal of the dream of a developed India by 2047.

Backward classes must be brought forward
In response to a question about what changes have come in the country in 77 years of independence and how much progress have we made, Dhananjay, president of JNUSU and pursuing PhD from there, said, ‘We moved forward by defeating feudalism, colonial rules, imperialist forces. In the years after independence, efforts were made to make people of every section of the society rise further, but in the 77 years of progress that the country should have made, somewhere even today such a situation remains that a section of the society is lagging behind. To bring them forward, everyone will have to think at every level.
These aspects need attention
We have progressed in various fields, such as science, social level etc., but even today there is a lack of Dalit-tribal women in universities. Along with this, communalism, which was eradicated to move the country forward, but even today riots are instigated in its name. Whereas the Constitution says that we need to maintain the spirit of harmony and brotherhood.
There are many such questions, which we have to analyse and move forward so that we can become a better and more prosperous country. There is a need to pay special attention to the level of education in the country.
