UP Politics: Many organizations have declared a Bharat Bandh on August 21 against the Supreme Court’s decision to make reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes a sub-category. Which is now getting support on a large scale. The biggest party of Dalits, Bahujan Samaj Party, has also supported this bandh on a large scale. BSP supremo Mayawati’s party will be seen on the road for the first time in support of Bharat Bandh.
The politics of Bahujan Samaj Party is not often known for street politics. BSP did not do street politics through movements. Since the time of Kanshi Ram, BSP’s politics has been to serve its people through power. BSP cadre has been quietly making inroads among its Dalits and backward classes. But, after decades, now supremo Mayawati is trying to sharpen her politics through the streets. BSP has announced to support the Bharat Bandh of Dalit organizations."text-align: justify;">Bharat Bandh gets BSP’s support

Akash Anand wrote on X- ‘There is a lot of anger in the SC/ST community against the Supreme Court’s decision on reservation. Our community has called for a Bharat Bandh on 21 August in protest against the decision. Our community is a peace-loving community. We support everyone. Our community participates in everyone’s happiness and sorrow. But, today our freedom is being attacked. On 21 August, we have to give a befitting reply to this in a peaceful manner.’
BSP will hit the streets after decades
BSP was seen on the streets 35 years ago in 1989. When BSP held a big protest at Boat Club demanding implementation of Mandal Commission under the leadership of Kanshiram. After this, BSP also held a big protest on the streets in the year 2016-17 when BJP leader Dayashankar Singh made a controversial comment on BSP supremo Mayawati. Then the entire BSP came out on the streets. Mayawati herself held a meeting in Lucknow."text-align: justify;">BSP General Secretary Satish Chand Mishra has called upon BSP workers to take part in this bandh in large numbers. He said that all BSP workers should participate in it in a disciplined and constitutional manner. After this announcement of BSP, it is believed that now new politics of BSP can be seen.
