Uttarakhand Wild Animals Tourists Entry banned in Dehradun FRI due to Guldar Influx ANN

Dehradun News Today: There is panic in the Forest Research Institute (FRI) located in Dehradun due to increased activity of Guldar in the last few days. For this reason, keeping in mind the safety of tourists, the institute has decided to close the FRI campus for five days.

This ban will be in effect from October 2 to October 6. During this period, not only tourists will be restricted from entering the premises, but local residents who come for morning and evening walks will also be banned from walking.

Guldar’s marks in FRI
According to the publicity and contact office of FRI, Guldar has been seen repeatedly in the campus since last one week. The remains of hunting done by Guldar have also been found in different parts of the complex. Due to which the danger to the people living and visiting there has increased.

This decision has been taken for the safety of tourists and local people, so that any untoward incident can be prevented. After getting information about this matter, the Forest Department also became active immediately.

Cameras and cages installed in the premises
DFO (Divisional Forest Officer) Neeraj Sharma said that a cage has been installed in the premises to catch Guldar. Apart from this, camera traps have also been installed to keep an eye on the activities of the henchmen. However, till now Guldar has not been seen on camera.

The Forest Department team is continuously patrolling the premises and the situation is being monitored. Even before Guldar’s activities, people were alert in the areas around FRI, but in recent times, Guldar’s coming inside the campus has become a matter of concern.

FRI is a major center of attraction for tourists, where people come to see its natural beauty and historical importance. A large number of tourists come here especially on weekends. Therefore, giving priority to the safety of tourists, it has been decided to close the institute.

What did wildlife experts say?
This type of arrival of Guldar in settlements and public places can be considered as a result of shrinking area of forests and changes in the natural habitat of animals. According to wildlife experts, wild animals like guldar come out of the forest in search of food and come close to human settlements. However, such animals naturally prefer to stay away from humans, but when they are hungry or feel unsafe, they come to settlements.

‘Patrolling continues until the gangster is caught’
The local administration and forest department team is making every possible effort to control this situation. DFO Neeraj Sharma said that patrolling and monitoring of the premises will continue until Guldar is caught or his activities are completely controlled. Cages and camera traps have been installed and the activities of the henchmen are expected to be controlled soon.

Tourists may be a little disappointed due to the closure of FRI, but this step has been taken keeping their safety in mind. The institute has expressed regret to the tourists and local people for this inconvenience and expressed hope that the situation will soon become normal.
