Delhi Chief Minister: After nearly ten years, Delhi is going to get a woman Chief Minister again. Atishi’s name was approved for the CM post in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Legislature Party meeting held at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence on Tuesday (September 17, 2024). Atishi will be the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Congress’ Sheila Dixit and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sushma Swaraj.

Atishi’s name comes among the heavyweight ministers of Arvind Kejriwal cabinet. In just four years, she is going to capture power in Delhi. Atishi is among those few people who will become the Chief Minister in a few years. Atishi was born on 8 June 1981 in an educated family of Delhi. Her father Vijay Singh and mother Tripta Vahi were both professors in Delhi University. Atishi belongs to a Punjabi Rajput family and is a graduate from Oxford University. Apart from this, she studied History from St. Stephen’s College.

Atishi is associated with the establishment of AAP
After earning a master’s degree from Oxford University, she lived in a small village in Madhya Pradesh for seven years. Here she got involved in organic farming and progressive education systems. There she worked for several NGOs and it was here that she met some members of AAP. Atishi has been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party since its inception. She has been active in the organization since the time of the Anna movement.

She contested the election for the first time and lost.
Atishi contested elections for the first time in the year 2019. She contested from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, but Gautam Gambhir of BJP defeated her by 4.77 lakh votes. After this, she contested the 2020 assembly elections and was elected MLA from Kalkaji. In 2023, she was made a minister in the Kejriwal cabinet and after a year she is going to become the Chief Minister. At present, Atishi is handling the responsibility of most ministries in the Delhi government. Since Arvind Kejriwal went to jail in March, she has been handling all the responsibilities related to the party and the government.

What responsibilities does Atishi have right now?
After the arrest of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy case last year, Atishi was given the responsibility of the Education Ministry. Then when Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in March this year, the responsibility of PWD, Water Department, Revenue, Planning and Finance Department also came on her.

Lay’s It brings to life the vibrant colors associated with these packets of chips.

0

In 2022, Balenciaga collaborated with Lay’s to create bags that looked like packets of chips. These debuted on the hallowed runway of the Paris Fashion Week. This year, the snack brand has teamed up with homegrown label Huemn.

And the first look of the garment-heavy merchandise took place across grocery stores in Delhi in a rather innovative way. “It was a treasure hunt. We hid them in custom-made Lay’s chips packets in a few grocery stores,” says Saumya Rathor, category lead — Potato Chips, PepsiCo India, adding, “I found this idea very disruptive. We really believe that collaborations are a good way to propel the brand narrative forward.”

For Pranav Mishra, co-founder, Huemn, working on this collection, plunged him into nostalgia. “I have just turned 40, and nostalgia is such an important emotion. When you tap into that emotion, it’s a celebratory kind of feeling,” says Pranav, adding that Lay’s is an iconic pop culture brand and it is something we have grown up with.

It has taken nine months of labor to deliver this 25-piece collection. Bright and quirky, it is inspired by Lay’s packets. “A lot of people associate Lay’s with their favorite color. They may not say the name of the flavor but they know the colour. This brings to life the colors of the packets. A perfect combination of snack and style,” says Saumya. All these colors represent individuality, believes Pranav.

There are the oversized signature T-shirts that Huemn is known for, hoodies, and oversized shirts. Dual tone prints of ridged chips make their presence felt all over the garments. A surprise accessory drop is in the works. “There are all handcrafted pieces with conventional thread and sequin embroidery. We’ve also used screen and bubble printing,” says Pranav. The garments are named after each flavour: the orange ones are called, Hot ‘n’ Sweet Chilli, the dark green ones are Chile Lemon, then there is Cream and Onion, and the Classic Salted yellow that is Pranav’s favourite.

“Every brand has its own take on design and approach, and how we look at design. Our take is very fresh. It is one of the most vibrant collections we have done so far,” says Pranav who had previously collaborated with Pepsi in 2019 and 2022 for Huemn’s 10th year anniversary. “The beautiful part about collaborating with legacy brands like these is that it gives boutique brands like ours an opportunity to connect with 10 people. And then they take an interest in our story,” he says.

For a brand like Huemn that aligns with sustainability, does teaming up with a junk food brand affect its ethos? “Where we have tapped into is the cultural aspect and feeling it evokes of the community. The merchandise that we have created is based on the principle of sustainability. The material is 100% cotton. It is made in limited quantities and every step of the way its hand held, right from fabric procurement to stitching,” Pranav justifies.

The Lay’s x Huemn collection is available on huemn.in. Prices start at ₹4,900.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Cuts A 'Sorry Figure' Against Pacers At Nets - Report's Big Claim srjdhhp8 yashasvi jaiswal

Indian cricket team batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has established himself as a solid talent in the past couple of years and he is expected to take the field during the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai starting Thursday. However, according to a report on SportstarJaiswal had a tough time facing the fast bowlers during the net session at the M Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. The report claimed that Jaiswal cut a ‘sorry figure’ against both Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah as the youngster kept missing deliveries outside the off-stump. However, the left-hander did look quite comfortable against the spinners and the report added that he used the sweep quite well to counter the threat of the spinners.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will have some milestones to chase as he prepares to take on Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series at Chennai from Thursday.

The two-match series will kick off on September 19 in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The second long-format game will begin on September 27 in Kanpur. In his first Test assignment, head coach Gautam Gambhir will be keen on securing a series win.

The Indian skipper has enjoyed a fine run of form in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 so far, scoring 700 runs in nine matches and 16 innings at an average of 46.66, with three centuries and three fifties. His best score is 131. He is the 12th highest run-getter in the competition so far.

Rohit has two milestones to look for during the series. Getting to the first milestone will seal his legacy as the country’s finest six-hitter. With 84 sixes in Tests, Rohit is at 11th place among top six-hitters in the world. He just needs eight more big hits to displace legendary Virender Sehwag (91) to become team’s leading six-hitter in Test cricket.

England skipper Ben Stokes (131), former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Brendon McCullum (107) and iconic Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist (100) are the top three sixes in the world.

If Rohit goes on a big six-hitting spree in these two games, he could also become only the fourth overall and first Indian batter to have smashed 100 sixes in Tests.

Enjoy the sprawling view of the Eastern Ghats over a zipline introduced recently by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation in association with Adventure Zone at Borra Caves. With its lush canopies, it is a haven for those seeking a rush of adrenaline amidst Nature’s embrace.

The 600 meter-long zipline connects Borra Caves to the other side of the hill at Kothaguda village, offering a mesmerizing view of the Eastern Ghats. Visitors harness up, soaring through the skies, suspended by cables along their way down as they traverse the scenic landscapes. The rush of wintry breeze and the panoramic vistas combine to create an adrenaline rush.

Ensuring safety remains paramount in the newly-added attraction at Borra Caves, Jestin Joseph of Adventure Zone says: “We have rigorous safety protocols, regular equipment checks and a trained staff of 21 members in place. Experience the excitement of riding a basket boat in Vietnamese style at Kambalakonda Eco Tourism Park while soaking in the winter morning sun amid the rolling green hills of the sanctuary.

Two circular boats have been recently introduced at the Adventure Zone run by Live-in Adventures in association with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department. The boats are designed in a round basket shape, similar to the ones popular in Vietnam. Unlike other boats, their round shape makes them spin. Made of fibre, these boats can be controlled by waving an oar back and forth in an arc-like motion.

“The round shape gives the boats buoyancy in water. It’s a great tourist attraction in Vietnam. We wanted to bring a similar experience here with a customized fiber basket boat,” says B Satyanarayana Naidu of Livein Adventures. Originally designed for fishing in shallow waters in Vietnam, the circular shape allowed fishermen to easily move around and collect fish from their nets.

Additionally, the boating area has 10 double kayaks, two single kayaks, two family boats and one life guard boat.

With the weather being conducive and the onset of the picnic season, the adventure zone has been buzzing with activities. Burma bridge, zipline, trampoline, spider net and tire walk are some of the popular activities. The evergreen, deciduous forest of Kambalakonda supports a wide variety of flora and fauna and has been under the control of the AP Forest Department since 1970. In 2002, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), following which the Kambalakonda Eco Tourism Park was developed. Treks and bird-watching walks are conducted periodically.

The boating is open from 9am to 4pm and costs ₹200 per head.

The racing track is 350 meters long, designed to meet the standards set by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). “From the track dimensions and turning radius to pit stops, designated start and finish lanes and strategically placed protective barriers have all been designed according to the rules and standards of FMSCI,” says Narendra Kumar of Vishwanad Sports Academy.
