Today 25th National Technology Day 2023 will be celebrated in the country. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the program from Pragati. What is Technology Day, its history is being told in this article.

New Delhi, National Technology Day 2023: India’s name has been appearing in the list of fast-developing countries for a long time. Technology has been a major contributor to India’s development. Today National Technology Day will be celebrated in India. Programs have been organized on the occasion of Technology Day in government institutions, schools and colleges across the country.

This day is special for playing the important role of engineers, scientists in the development of the country and giving them credit for it. On the occasion of National Technology Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the program at Pragati Maidan. PM Modi will reach Pragati Maidan at 10:30 am today for the program.

25th Technology Day Will be Celebrated Today

Technology Day is celebrated every year with a new theme. This year the theme of Technology Day is ‘School to Startups-Igniting Young Minds to Innovate’. This is the 25th year of National Technology Day in the country.

PM Modi will announce many projects for the country on the occasion of Technology Day by laying the foundation stone of the programme. Today, an expenditure of more than Rs 5800 crore will be decided in the field of science and technology. These projects include Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory-India, Hingoli; Projects like Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Jatni, Odisha and Platinum Jubilee Block of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai will be included.

In what ways is National Technology Day special?

Actually, the names of two big personalities of India are associated with the history of National Technology Day. It is associated with the name of the country’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

The credit for celebrating Technology Day goes to these two people only. In fact, in the year 1998, India achieved major success in the Pokhran-II nuclear test. The then President was leading this test.

And Pokhran-I was India’s first nuclear test. The first nuclear test was done in the year 1974. It is known as Smiling Buddha. Talking about Pokhran-II, the Indian Army conducted five nuclear explosions from the test range. The code name of this nuclear test was Shakti-I nuclear missile.

It was only after India’s success in the nuclear test that the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee named May 11 as Technology Day.
