In addition to her digital drama ‘Citadel,’ Chopra found herself amidst talk of her newly premiered Hollywood production ‘Love Again.’ This film, however, was met with an underwhelming response at the American ticket counters. With meager earnings in its initial three days, ‘Love Again’ is grappling with stiff competition.
The conversation surrounding Priyanka Chopra these days is a blend of her web spectacle ‘Citadel’ and her fresh Hollywood release Love Again. The film is set to debut in India on the 12th of May. Yet, the current tidings concerning this movie could deliver a substantial jolt to Chopra’s devotees. The reality is, this cinematic piece has encountered an unfortunate setback at the US box office. The film, starring Chopra alongside Sam Heughan and Celine Dion, has managed to scrape together only $2.38 million, which translates to a modest Rs 18 crores over three days.
‘Love Again’ is facing intense rivalry at the American box office. Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ ‘Evil Dead Rise,’ and ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’ is stirring up a frenzy among moviegoers. Consequently, Chopra’s film is finding it arduous to captivate their audience.
Priyanka Chopra’s Role in ‘Love Again’
In ‘Love Again,’ Chopra breathes life into the character of Meera Ray, a woman bereft of her partner due to a vehicular mishap. Engulfed by memories, Meera begins texting her late fiancé’s number, now reassigned to a man named Rob (Heughan). Rob, deeply moved by Meera’s messages, seeks to establish a connection with her, assisted by Dion. An intriguing detail is that Chopra’s real-life spouse, Nick Jonas, appears in a fleeting role in this film.
The film ‘Love Again’ will Easily Recover Its Cost
Despite the lukewarm response, Variety’s report suggests that the film, with a budget of $9 million, is likely to break even. This is Chopra’s first theatrical release following ‘Matrix Resurrections’ in 2021. Her journey in Hollywood began with ‘Baywatch’ in 2017. Currently, Chopra graces the screen in ‘Citadel,’ a series available on OTT platforms. The production and promotional expenses for ‘Citadel’ were prodigious. The series premiered in Mumbai with Chopra joined by co-star Richard Madden. Nevertheless, the series didn’t quite hit the mark. Chopra’s action sequences in this series, however, are earning accolades.
The Poor Ratings of Love Again
Amidst a fierce battlefield at the box office, with rivals like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ ‘Evil Dead Rise,’ and ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,’ Priyanka Chopra’s film ‘Love Again’ launched. According to an Indian Express report, in its initial three-day stint, the Chopra-fronted film garnered a meager $2.38 million (Rs 18 crore). The critical reception was equally tepid; Guardian awarded the film a paltry two out of five stars, while Chicago Suntimes gave one and a half stars. The Observer was even less generous, granting only a single star.
Love Again Movie Fails to Impress Their Audience
Numerous review platforms labeled the film as lackluster, outdated, and unrefined. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie languished with a dismal rating of merely 19%. Despite the underperformance, the film, made on a budget of $9 million, seems to have recuperated its production expenses. However, it’s clear that ‘Love Again’ won’t be a luminary addition to Chopra’s Hollywood résumé. Still, it’s important to note that the film’s lukewarm ratings are in stark contrast to the actress’s global fanbase, which remains undeterred.

Chopra’s Paparazzi Encounter
During a recent interview, Priyanka Chopra shared an amusing anecdote from her promotional tour for the film. She confessed to having taken a tumble in full view of the paparazzi and bystanders. To her surprise, however, the photographers lowered their cameras and graciously allowed her to regain her composure.
“In my 23-year-long career, I’ve never seen this happen,” she said. “Everyone put their cameras down and said, ‘Don’t worry about it, Pri, take your time.’ I was embarrassed for a moment, but their kindness was heartening. They told me, ‘You’re always so kind, we’ve got this.’ To this day, there’s no footage of me falling.”
